Sofa Measuring Guide
Before purchasing a sofa, it’s important to check that it can comfortably fit through your doors, hallways and into the room where it will be placed.
Taking a few quick measurements can help prevent delivery issues and ensure everything runs smoothly on the day of delivery.
Please note that all sofas on our website are listed using assembled dimensions. If you require individual section measurements or more detailed sizing, simply send us a message and we will be happy to help.
1. Measure Your Doorways
Start by measuring the width and height of your doorways, including the front door and any internal doors the sofa must pass through.
Remember that the door frame itself is often narrower than the door, and handles or hinges may reduce the available space.
2. Check Hallways and Corridors
Measure the narrowest part of any hallways or corridors between your entrance and the room where the sofa will be placed.
Be mindful of obstacles such as:
-
Radiators
-
Furniture
-
Tight corners or narrow passageways
3. Check Corners and Turning Space
Corners can sometimes be the most difficult part of a delivery.
Make sure there is enough space to manoeuvre the sofa around corners and into the room where it will be placed.
Many sofas can also be delivered in sections, which helps make installation easier in tighter spaces.
4. Staircases (If Applicable)
If the sofa needs to go upstairs, measure:
-
Staircase width
-
Ceiling height above the stairs
-
Space on landings or turns
This helps ensure there is enough room to move the sofa safely upstairs.
